Cookie Terms

Cookies we collect. How we correct them. How we use them.

This page explains what cookies COCOCE uses, how we keep them accurate and up to date, and exactly how they power the system's required and automated functionalities. We do not share your cookies with any third party.

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your actions and preferences over time — such as keeping you signed in, remembering your display settings, and protecting against security threats.

At COCOCE, we use cookies strictly for the operation of the marketplace and authentication system. We do not use them for advertising or tracking across other websites.

2. Cookies we collect

We collect a minimal set of cookies, each with a clear and specific purpose:

Session Cookie (httpOnly, secure)

What it stores: A temporary session identifier that tells our servers you are logged in.

Why we need it: Without this cookie, you would have to sign in again on every page you visit.

Username Cookie

What it stores: Your display name or username, so the interface can greet you and personalize your experience.

Why we need it: To remember who you are and display the correct account information without asking you repeatedly.

Search Index Cookie

What it stores: A lightweight index of your recent search queries and filters, used to speed up repeated searches.

Why we need it: To provide faster, more relevant results and to remember your search context as you browse.

CSRF Protection Token

What it stores: A unique, unpredictable token tied to your session.

Why we need it: To protect you from cross-site request forgery attacks — a common web security threat.

Preferences Cookie

What it stores: Your UI preferences, such as dark mode, language, and layout choices.

Why we need it: To remember your settings so you don't have to reconfigure them on every visit.

3. How we correct them

Cookie accuracy and integrity are important to us. Here is how we ensure the data stored in your cookies remains correct:

  • Automatic refresh: Session and CSRF tokens are regenerated on each sign-in and periodically during long sessions.
  • Validation checks: Every cookie is validated server-side before being trusted. Tampered or expired cookies are rejected immediately.
  • User-driven updates: When you change your username, preferences, or search filters, the associated cookies are updated in real time.
  • Cleanup on logout: All non-essential cookies are cleared when you sign out, ensuring no stale data remains.
  • Version tracking: Cookie formats carry a version marker. If we change the structure, old cookies are invalidated and refreshed automatically.

4. How we use them

Every cookie we set serves one of the following purposes:

  • Authentication: To verify that you are who you claim to be and to keep you signed in.
  • Security: To protect against CSRF, session hijacking, and other common web threats.
  • Personalization: To remember your display name, preferences, and search context.
  • Performance: To speed up search and navigation by caching lightweight indexes.
  • System requirements: To enable the platform's core, automated functionalities (see section 6).

We do not use cookies for advertising, behavioral profiling, or cross-site tracking.

5. No third-party sharing

We do not share your cookies with any third party. Not with advertisers, not with analytics providers, not with data brokers. Your cookie data stays within COCOCE's systems and is used solely for the purposes described on this page.

This means:

  • No third-party tracking cookies are ever placed on your device by COCOCE.
  • No cookie data is sold, rented, or traded to any external organization.
  • No cookie data is shared with partners, affiliates, or service providers for their own use.
  • All cookie processing happens on COCOCE-controlled infrastructure.

6. System & automated use

Some cookies are essential for the system's required and automated functionalities. These include:

  • Session continuity: Automatically maintaining your signed-in state as you navigate between pages.
  • Token refresh: Automatically renewing security tokens before they expire, so you are not interrupted.
  • Search indexing: Automatically caching your recent searches to deliver faster results on repeat queries.
  • Fraud detection: Automatically flagging suspicious cookie patterns that may indicate unauthorized access.
  • Load balancing: Automatically routing your requests to the appropriate server based on session affinity.
  • Preference persistence: Automatically applying your saved settings (theme, language, layout) on every visit.

These automated functions are what make COCOCE fast, secure, and reliable. They run in the background without requiring any action from you.

7. Your control

You have control over cookies at all times:

  • Browser settings: You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies. However, blocking essential cookies may prevent you from signing in or using core features.
  • Sign out: Signing out clears all non-essential cookies from your device.
  • Clear browsing data: You can manually clear cookies through your browser's settings at any time.
  • Contact us: If you have questions about a specific cookie, reach out and we will explain exactly what it does.
